Today, I brought my two tabby kittens to the vet for their first vaccines. The vet also gave them their passports, so I’d have to give them their names.
There was also Tour de France’s penultimate stage (Alpe d’Huez) today. Thibaut Pinot, the French rider of FDJ team attacked and won the stage. Nairo Quintana, Movistar’s colombian rider also attacked on the eventual winner Chris Froome. He gained some time on him, it was not enough to win the Tour, but it was a brave move.
So my babies had their names: Thibaut for number two, and Nairo for number five.
Thibaut, named after Thibaut Pinot (born 29 May 1990 in Mélisey, Haute-Saône), the French professional road bicycle racer for UCI ProTeam FDJ. He is rated as one of the most promising talents in French cycling, and ended as third overall in the 2014 Tour de France, and first in the young rider classification in the race. At the 2015 Tour de France, Pinot won Stage 20 (it finished in Alpe d’Huez) in solo fashion and finished 16th in the final general classification. (wikipedia)
Nairo, named after Nairo Alexander Quintana Rojas, ODB, (Cómbita, Boyacá, 4 February 1990), the Colombian racing cyclist, currently riding for the Movistar Team. He is nicknamed Nairoman and “El Condor de los Andes”. Quintana is a specialist climber, known for his ability to launch sustained and repeated attacks on ascents of steep gradient, high power output and great stamina to react and endure others attacks, He is also a good time trialist, making him a consistent contender for general classification at stage races. His best career results are winning the 2014 Giro d’Italia and 2016 Vuelta a España, as well as a 2nd place overall in the Tour de France of 2013 and 2015. His multiple wins in other major stage races, leading to high UCI WorldTour ranking placements at the end of each season, are other reasons why he is seen as one of the most successful stage-racing riders of the recent era, and the best road cyclist in Colombian history.
